Lymphedema and Oska Pulse

The Oska Pulse uses a unique PEMF (Pulse Electromagnetic Field) therapy configuration to create an environment for accelerating cellular regeneration. Will it assist in dealing with lymphedema?

What is Lymphedema?

  • Lymphedema is a chronic condition characterised by swelling in the arms or legs caused by a blockage in the lymphatic system. The lymphatic system drains excess fluid from tissues and filters out waste and toxins. When the lymphatic system cannot function properly, fluid builds up in the affected area, leading to swelling.

  • There are two main types of lymphedemas: primary and secondary. Primary lymphedema is a rare, inherited condition that affects the development of the lymphatic system. In contrast, secondary lymphedema is more common and is usually caused by damage to the lymphatic system, such as surgery, radiation therapy, infection, or trauma.

Symptoms of lymphedema can vary but often include swelling, a feeling of heaviness or tightness in the affected limb, decreased flexibility, and recurrent infections. If left untreated, lymphedema can lead to complications such as skin changes, reduced mobility, and an increased risk of infections.

Treatment for lymphedema typically involves a combination of therapies, including manual lymphatic drainage, compression therapy, exercise, and skincare. Early detection and management of lymphedema are essential in preventing the progression of the condition and improving the quality of life for those affected.

Can Oska Pulse be of any help?

One of the primary features of the Oska Pulse is its Vascular phase, one of four treatment protocols built into Oska and, possibly, the most important. One of the suggested treatments for lymphedema is physical exercise. However, when physical exercise becomes difficult or even impossible, Oska’s vascular phase is designed to open capillaries and stimulate the capillary arcade. This helps to drain toxins from the lymph nodes and reduce blockage.

In summary:

While more research is needed to determine the effectiveness of PEMF treatment for lymphedema, Oska Pulse PEMF therapy has been shown to potentially reduce lymphedema symptoms, including swelling, improve circulation, and promote lymphatic drainage.
